New York Pet Fashion Show

Jay and I had plans on going to NYC with Bebe for the New York Pet Fashion Show since the moment we heard the show date announced. This is an event that I refuse to miss every year. We prepared for this for months and I worked closely together with Kelly Owens of K.O. Couture as she custom designed a couture dress for Bebe to wear to fit the Roaring 20's theme this year.
Roaring Pink Jazz dress by K.O. Couture
This Roaring 20's Flapper style dress by K.O. Couture is made with a ostrich feather skirt, crystal covered pink satin bodice with a waistline made of hand-made rosettes. The matching head piece is sequined adorned with a rosette and feathers to match the dress. It's name Roaring Pink Jazz represents the time period that inspired the pink dress and the word "jazz" was often used by flappers to describe something exciting of fun.
Bebe on the train to NYC
As the event approached, we heard about a huge blizzard coming. So I kept an eye on the weather every day. We take the train to go to NYC, so the NJ Transit was something else we had to pay attention to. If they cancelled their trains, we could be stranded in the city. The snow was pretty light around 4:30pm, so we decided to take the chance and go. I had my iPhone on me, so I had the train alerts open so I could know if they announced any cancellations.
Bebe and I on the red carpet
When we arrived at the event at the Hotel Pennsylvania, we didn't know what to expect. I was worried that we would walk in to a nearly empty room because of the storm. I was surprised to see it was bustling with fashionable people and dogs. Cameras were flashing all around us as people were trying to capture images of the unique scene.
Floral Sculpture display by Table Art & Event Designs
The room looked absolutely amazing. As we walked in, we went down the red carpet to pose in front of the backdrop for photos. Then we were amazed by a display of dogs made out of flowers by Table Art & Event Designs. I loved seeing that they had a few Chihuahuas in the display.

There were several vendor booths selling various pet products. All of the sales people were very friendly and we enjoyed learning about the new products they had to offer. The one booth that caught my eye was Diamonds in the Ruff Ruff. The sparkle of the jewelry drew me in.  They had a gorgeous custom made dog bed with matching jewelry and dress, too!

After shopping, we went over to get some food. They had a variety of complimentary appetizers, a fruit display and choices of cheese and meats. We filled up a few plates of yummy food and went and watched the various fashion shows on the runway.
Bebe modeling in the 50 Shades of Love show
As we were enjoying the show, I saw one of the organizers Ada Nieves.  She called me over and handed me a 1920 dog outfit by Inamorada from Italy, benedetta Sainaghiand and told me to put it on Bebe so she could go on the runway. I had no idea she was going to be modeling. What a great surprise that was! So I got her dressed and handed her off to  Kevin De L'aigle of Armani and they walked the runway in the 50 Shades of Love show.
Bebe and I with our Best Pet Blog Award
After Bebe walked the runway, Ada told Bebe and I to line up to go on stage for yet another surprise! I heard my name being called up to the stage as it was announced that Obsessive Chihuahua Disorder won an award for Best Pet Blog!! Wow!! What an honor! We received congratulations from friends of ours sitting near the stage as we walked down the runway with our award. I felt like I was floating on a cloud.
Posing with Chai Latte and her owner, Karen, with our awards
We had a brief break to go say hi to some of our friends. We love going to the NYC events because we have a lot of "doggy friends" that live in and around the city or who travel to the city events  just like us. The photo above is us posing with our friend, Karen, and her chi Chai Latte who won a Special Achievement Award. The wonderful thing about this event is that it draws in people from all across the country to fly in. There were famous dog couture designers such as Linda Higgins and friends from online like Terry St Angelo with her dog Aspen from Miami.

Bebe on the runway in the Best Dressed Contest
After mingling for a bit, Bebe and I got ready for the Best Dressed Contest. Bebe's outfit by K.O. Couture is absolutely gorgeous, so I figured it was worth a shot to enter her. There were probably over 20 dogs entered in the contest. There were so many beautiful unique designs. When our time came to walk the runway, I carried Bebe to the end and then put her on the ground so she could walk back down the runway. At first, she walked right up to a photographer and stuck her face in the camera. And then she totally strutted her stuff back down the runway. The crowd was clapping and laughing because she looked so cute.  The photo above is one of my favorite pics showing her in full-motion next to my shoes that match her dress. In the end, the winner for best dressed was a dog and her owner in matching outfits designed by Linda Higgins.
Bebe and I on the empty train ride home
Right after the contest, we noticed that there was a lot of snow. I checked the train status and it showed that it was still on schedule. But we were worried it would change. So we collected our coats and goodie bags. I was glad I brought some snow boots, because I took off my heels and put on my boots and we rushed over to the train station and had a safe trip home.

We had an amazing time at the event and we're so glad that we didn't have to miss it because of the weather. We can't wait until next year! Thank you to all our amazing readers for helping us become the 2013 New York Fashion Show Best Pet Blog.
