Hands-on Experience While Earning College Credit
The Tech Prep program is a concurrent enrollment program offered in cooperation between the UAF Community & Technical College and other educational institutions. The program recognizes high quality courses offered at the high school or vocational/technical level and provides students the opportunity to earn university credits toward a certificate and/or degree by completing classes in their high school or vocational technical education institution that have been approved for college credit.
Highlights
Tech Prep allows students to:
- Get a head start in an occupational endorsement, certificate, or degree program.
- Transfer credits from Îçҹ̽»¨ to another university or college.
- Apply skills for immediate entry-level employment after completing a course of study at their home institution.

Tech Prep Registration Process
Learn about Tech Prep Approved Classes
High school or vocational/technical students who are enrolled in a course that qualifies for Tech Prep should receive information from their teacher about the program, as well as instructions about how to obtain registration materials.
If you don’t receive information or have questions about whether or not a specific class at your high school or vocational technical center qualifies for Tech Prep, check with your teacher or school counselor.
Presentations by a Îçҹ̽»¨ representative can be made for Tech Prep classes in your high school or vocational/technical center at the request of the teacher or school counselor.
Learn about Registration Deadlines & Details
Students may register for a Tech Prep course anytime during the current school year. The deadline for registration and payment is the second Monday in May.
There is no limit to the number of UAF credits a student may receive through Tech Prep. The cost is only $25 per credit.
Grades received in the high school course will be reflected on the student’s UAF transcript.
Register & Pay Fees
Completed registration forms can be returned to the Îçҹ̽»¨ Student Services & Registration Center at 604 Barnette Street, Room 110.
A fee of $25 per credit can be paid by check or by credit card. Please make checks out to the University of Alaska Fairbanks or call the UAF Student Services & Registration Center at 455-2899 or
455-2874 to pay by credit card.
